Wishing I was in NYC

It has been almost one year since I ran the NYC Marathon.  It still amazes me at how mentally painful the marathon was, leading up to the race I prepared for the physical side but no one warned me about the mental pain.  For almost an hour straight I had a conversation with myself about why I should or shouldn't stop running, it was horrible.  In that hour I did a lot of soul searching, and reflecting on my life.  After a lot of tears I regrouped and finished the final five miles of the marathon.  The craziest part is that after I found Leanne, my brother, and my brother-in-law my mind went to the marathon and thoughts of running another one.

This week has been difficult, I have been hearing on 1010 WINS about how the city is preparing for the marathon.  Yesterday they were reporting on how they were painting the finish line, when I heard that I got goosebumps and started to think about how I was listening to the killers, pointing to the heavens smiling remembering the people that I dedicated the race too.  I want that feeling again, it is like a drug.  I can run all the half marathons and 5ks I want but nothing will ever compare to the NYC marathon.

I will definitely be watching the NYC Marathon this Sunday, I want to see the course and remember how great of a day it was.  I will also be rooting for a good friend that is a diabetic that is running the race, I know that she will do great.  As for me I'm hoping that 2015 will bring another marathon for me to run, it might be in Chicago or Boston but if not Hartford will be the marathon of choice.
