In those eight years I finally took control of my diabetes and realized how great this disease can be. If I didn't have diabetes I don't think I would be where I am today. Diabetes is my life and it has allowed me to be the best person that I can be. If I didn't have diabetes I would have been in Washington D.C. meeting with members of congress. I wouldn't be running or riding my bike all over New England inspiring others that are living with diabetes. Diabetes has made me a decent public speaker, it has allowed me to go to hospitals all over New England to speak about my life with diabetes. I have also been able to share my diabetes story with newly diagnosed children, in doing so I have built a very special diabetes family.
Diabetes didn't stop there, it has allowed me to form friendships with some very special professional athletes and athletes that belong to the best cycling team in the world. This spring diabetes will take me to California and allow me to travel from San Diego to Sacramento to follow some of my heroes that are also in a great place because of diabetes. The future looks good as I continue to live a great life with diabetes. Diabetes has dreams of taking me to Europe and will be with me as I travel all over pursuing my dream of changing the diabetes world. I ask you, "Where will diabetes take you?" Diabetes is great and it is your ticket to change and see the world!!
