Team Novo Nordisk made history yesterday, they became the first all-diabetic pro cycling team.  The best part of Team Novo Nordisk is that the teams owner, Phil Southerland, will tweet before, during and after the race.  For someone like myself that is obsessed with diabetes and cycling it makes me feel like I'm part of the team.  I love seeing posts like this from Phil, #bgnow for #teamnovonordisk 175, 289, 209, 141, 105, 240, 117, 240, 216, 190 8km climb to begin. #changingdiabetes

I can see where all of the team members blood sugars are before they start racing,  I'm very jealous of the rider with the 117 blood sugar, I'm not sure if that is where he wanted to be but if it is that is amazing.  I could never go for a bike ride with a blood sugar of 117.  That is what makes diabetes so great, what works for one may not work for another, each person living with diabetes is unique.

Having Team Novo Nordisk is truly changing diabetes!!!  I'm in awe of each member of the team, I know the amount of work that goes in to riding and racing a bike with diabetes.  I race at the local level and I'm not that competitive, these guys are racing with the likes of Bradley Wiggins (2012 Tour De France winner) Pierre Rolland (2011 Tour De France best young rider) and Luis Leon Sanchez (Winner of four Tour De France stages and 2005 Tour Down Under Champion)  To be a professional at the highest level is very tough, throw in diabetes it makes it a little bit tougher.  All of the members of Team Novo Nordisk are proving that it is not impossible and that gives an amateur like myself the confidence to go out and race with all that I have.  If I can't race at the amateur level with diabetes than I'm giving diabetics all of the world a bad reputation.  Diabetes doesn't limit Team Novo
