I'm so use to being on a set schedule that when my schedule changes I could have a blood sugar that is below my set range. Right around lunchtime Sunday that happened, I had a great morning with blood sugars that were right in range. As Leanne and I went out for a Sunday adventure with "Minnie and Sharky" everything was going perfectly. As we got to our destination I knew that I had about fifteen minutes before we would sit down to eat. All was well so I gave myself two units of insulin, that would cover my lunch perfectly. How did I know this? We were going to a restaurant that we frequent, that means I get the same thing every time and know how my body will react.
Things happen and our lunch date was delayed, this means my blood sugar fell out of range. I was not adequately prepared for the low but was able to find a soda for a quick fix. That quick fix would give me time to have a small snack until we could get our lunch. The problem was that I was angry with myself because my blood sugar fell out of range. I take it very hard when I mess up, that should never happen. I did learn from this experience, I should always replace the bag of emergency Skittles in my car when it runs out, I should also replace the eight pack of Gatorade in the trunk when it runs out. If I had done that I would have been fine, lesson learned.
