It is not just the Team Novo Nordisk cycling teams that compete for the team. They have a running/triathlon team that makes me feel like a horrible runner. I know that I'm not a great runner but I feel that I can hold my own with maybe the top 50 runners in any race that I enter. With that confidence comes a slim thought of maybe I could one day join the Novo Nordisk running team. I then see amazing posts on Facebook that Rhet Hulbert won the Boise, Idaho 5k in 16:14!!! 16:14 is amazing, my personal best for a 5k is currently at 21:56. In that same post it talks about Stephen England improving his half marathon personal best by finishing in a time of 1:18:21, my half marathon best is 1:48:22.
Seeing how great Team Novo Nordisk does gives me that motivation to go out and compete. Low and high blood sugars bring down my confidence when I have them before or after races, but it is Team Novo Nordisk that says it will be ok. Seeing what the team does motivates me, these are elite athletes that are doing amazing things with diabetes. Diabetes doesn't change when it is in the body of an elite athlete, Thet Hulbert has the same questions and concerns that I have when I'm about to run a 5k and that is what makes Team Novo Nordisk so unique and so great!!
