That is the good news, the bad news is that I have lost almost 15 pounds and need to ease into my workouts. I would like nothing more than to go for a fifteen mile run on Sunday but that just isn't possible right now. I'm thinking about a five mile run but even that could be tough to pull off. I have been stretching and doing some very light running with the basketball team the past two days and that has felt great.
My ultra marathon training doesn't start until January 2nd. That means I have a few weeks to get my body back to where it was. Before I got sick I was very happy with the way that I felt and my times while running. Obviously being sick for two weeks has taken a lot out of me but I have plenty of time to build my strength back up.
My biggest concern as always is my blood sugar. being lighter and with changes to my diet I'm not a 100% sure how my body will react to working out. I don't know if my temp basal rate will have to be tweaked while working out will find out very quickly. I will also be monitoring my health very closely, if things don't feel right or I'm having problems when it comes to the bathroom the dream of running an ultra marathon may have to wait until next fall. Time will tell but I'm just happy to be back and excited for the road ahead.
