This morning with temperatures in the mid 20s we headed outside to get some work down on the golf course. I thought that I was prepared for the cold weather, twenty minutes later my hands and feet felt like icicles. I had gloves, wool socks, and winter boots on, they did little to protect me from the cold air. The weird part was that the rest of my body was quite warm. My only thought could be that my circulation is so poor due to years of not taking care of myself. As always I worked through the pain and said no each time I was told to go inside because I looked like I was frozen. It is the whole diabetes makes me no different thinking, if everyone else was outside working I would be right there with them.
It scares me when the years of not taking care of myself start to show up, I have a feeling that cold hands and feet are going to be with me for the rest of my life.
I will try a bunch of different ideas to try and warm my hand and feet while working and I'm open to suggestions. Winter has not yet begun but it will be a long one for me.
