I was able to get hooked up to the computer and the bike for about 10 minutes so I could get associated with the equipment and having to breathe with just my mouth. The breathing was different but as time went on it felt natural, I must breathe with just my mouth a lot while I ride. After getting use to the mouth piece and comfortable on the bike I zoned out. That competitive mind sent took over and I just pedaled and focused on breathing. The doctor slowly increased the resistance and I began to get a small taste of the full test. When he came over to take off the helmet and breathing tube I got a bit mad and wanted him to bump up the resistance so I could try to feel a bit of the pain I’ll get tomorrow. The doctor printed out my results and showed me all the numbers and data that they will be looking at. My VO2 max after the test run was at 32. I felt great so I’m hoping that I can double that number.
After the test my wife and I grabbed a nice lunch and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. This evening we headed over to my in laws house for dinner and Monopoly. I couldn’t ask for a better day, it was just what I needed. We all forget how great life is from time to time. I’m very happy that I’m able to sit back and be grateful for the life I have and the people that are in it, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
