Team Type 1 Foundation Rebrands to Unify Efforts

Diabetes Non-Profit Highlights What’s Possible with Proper Care

ATLANTA – Team Type 1 Foundation, a global diabetes relief organization, today launched its refreshed brand in celebration of Diabetes Awareness Month. The organization partners with top-tier professional and student athletes to raise awareness for a full range of diabetes initiatives, and prove what’s possible with proper care.

“We are excited to unveil Team Type 1’s new identity,” said Phil Southerland, co-founder and chief executive officer of Team Type 1. “Our refreshed brand connects all of our global initiatives in the spirit of what’s possible, and focuses on the hero inside of every diabetic.”

Globally, the Team Type 1 Foundation saves lives in developing countries by working closely with international governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), enabling the non-profit to distribute necessary diabetes medical supplies. In the United States, the Foundation provides scholarships to student athletes with type 1 diabetes, highlighting them as role models and proof of the transformative power of education, testing and consistent care.

Since 2013 the Team Type 1 Foundation has provided over 2 million blood glucose test strips and 1,700 meters to the Rwanda Government. Enough supplies for their entire type 1 diabetes population for three years. In the United States, Team Type 1 has awarded 165 college scholarships to athletes with type 1 diabetes valued at $256,000. These Global Ambassadors raise awareness by conducting outreach events within their community so they can provide hope and inspiration; they are the voice for others with type 1 diabetes who don’t have a voice.

To unify these initiatives, the organization’s new brand features the simple, universal symbol of a circle surrounding a square defined by the letter T and the number 1. Calling on Team Type 1 Foundation’s close association with professional cycling, the mark also evokes a wheel and is readable in any position. In conjunction with the logo, Team Type 1 Foundation also launched a new tagline: What’s Possible?

“As diabetics, we are so often told we must wait until there is a cure. We think there is so much that can be done today, and so much that is possible if we take action now.”
