The day started off very well, as we got to the stadium around 1pm my blood sugar was at 93 and not moving. I knew that the tailgating menu consisted of pizza, grinders and beer. Not my usual diet but I was taking a day off and not worried about what I was eating, I was as always though worried about my blood sugar. As I started to eat a couple of slices of pizza I gave myself eight units of insulin to last the next two hours. My timing was off, I'm sure the few beers I had also didn't help my cause.
As the Patriots started to dominate my blood sugar slowly climbed past 230 and then 250 and finally topping out at 312 around the second quarter. I think my blood sugar was following Tom Bradys passing yards. Again it was a bad day and bad decision making by me. I didn't execute my game plan, it is pissing me off to write about it, I think Peyton Manning put it best when he was asked about my blood sugars postgame. "I don't usually stink but I stunk today"
