Summer Settings

It is a shame that the body needs rest, after taking two weeks off to recover from my racing season I headed back to the gym.  In that two weeks a lot changed, I had to tweak my basal rates to makeup for my lower levels of activity.  As I got back to the gym I didn't think that I would need to tweak my basal rates, I was very wrong.

A blood sugar of 39 before lunch was enough to scare me and made me realize I need to make some basal rate changes.  That reading of 39 scared me so much that my basal rates are now set at the same rates that I used in July.  This may be to much of a change in my basal rates but I would much rather be adjusting my rates because of higher than normal blood sugars than lower than average blood sugars.

What is surprising to me is that I don't think I'm working out as hard as I could be at the gym.  My plan was to take it easy for the first two weeks, go real hard for two months, easy for a month and then start my race season.  Early on it looks like this winter will be a great winter for increasing muscle mass and I'm hoping that the results will bring more PRs in the Spring.
