As we get further in to summer my life gets crazier and crazier. As much as I would love to run, cycle and kayak for a living I'm not a professional athlete. Right now I do not get paid to do any physical activity, I doubt I will ever get paid to do any sporting activity.
Today was a little crazy at work, I got to do my tour but it was a tour of the golf course with a mower. The biggest challenge of this tour is keeping my blood sugar above 100. My tour would start just after break, with a blood sugar of 137 I decided not to take any insulin to cover my fiber one bar and fruit. The first part of the tour brought a lot of hills and a lot of sweat. Having a Gatorade helped as my blood sugar quickly dropped to 90, what I did not plan for was the three foursomes of play. The groups put a quick stop to my activity, my blood sugar would climb up to 147 just before lunch.
The real challenge of the tour began at lunch. What do I eat and how much insulin do I take? I was starving, I would have a slice of pizza and my normal lunch. All of this food would be covered by 1.2 units of insulin, I would be banking that my activity would cover all of the food. I was very lucky that no groups slowed me down. My blood sugar was at 138 at the end of my day.
A good tour, the tour often causes blood sugars of 300. My body however paid the price today, the heat and humidity left me exhausted. No bike ride or run this evening due to my work tour. Being able to work tomorrow is more important than a virtual tour. I will enjoy my work victory and enjoy a nice evening with Leanne and close friends.
