Being in the gym for the past three months is starting to take its toll.  I like being in the gym, working on flexibility and strength but nothing beats being outside on the bike, even when it is 28 degrees outside.  It would be a morning low that would put the ride in jeopardy however, a rare low at basketball practice was the culprit.  I usually avoid lows while at practice, today that wasn't the case, just around 10am my blood sugar plummeted to around 50, a Powerade, Fiber One bar, and a cookie would get my blood sugar back to normal.  As you can see below I quickly rebounded, I would take two units and then set my temp basal for my bike ride.  I set my temp basal a bit to early however as you can see I crept up to near 300 as my ride began, not how I wanted my ride to begin.

Once my ride began my legs felt amazing, heading in to the ride I was a little worried because my legs have felt "off" lately.  Nothing major just getting tired very quickly, as my ride went on my legs felt strong however.  Again it is tough to a true reading on how my legs feel as the only work they have done has been lifting and running in basketball.  My legs felt great on the few hills that I did have to climb, being able to sit down while climbing was a good thing.

I was very impressed with my Dexcom this afternoon, I wasn't sure how it would respond to cold temperatures, it had no problems what so ever which is great.  My next project is to make some kind of way to secure the Dexcom to my handlebars, going on three hour rides with the Dexcom in my jersey pockets will not be a good thing.  I'm a bit unhappy that I had a little bit of blood sugar trouble before my ride began, I have a long eight months of riding ahead of me, I'm sure I will get in to my temp basal zone sooner rather than later.  Tomorrow is a spring training run before returning to the bike on Wednesday.
