The day started with taking almost two units off of my daily basal rate. I have gone from 20.75 units from my basal down to 18.85, as the weather gets warmer that number will drop to around 14. The major changes that I made to my basal were mainly in the morning and small tweaks to my night time rates. My only mistake today was not taking any insulin at 9am to cover, a lot of fruit, 6oz of Gatorade and a Fiber One bar. I didn't know how my body would react to the food or the insulin, I knew that I would be active and that my blood sugar would rise but was confident that I didn't need any insulin. Unfortunately my blood sugar went up to 190 which isn't bad but I was hoping for staying below 150 all day. Lunch brought the same dilemma, after talking to myself for a bit I settled on 3.1 units and hoped for the best. Again I got very lucky and didn't drop below 70 all afternoon.
Feeling so good I decided to hit the gym after work which was great until I arrived home and was at 65. Not horribly low but the 65 felt like 40 which is never fun. The next couple of weeks will be very interesting as I continue to transition in to spring/crazy season. As always I'm looking forward to the challenge and have no doubts that I will be able to handle it.
