Today gave my confidence a little boost, I'm sure I will be regretting this comment later but for now my running and blood sugars are doing very well. I love that I can run whenever I feel like running. I love being on the bike but I can't just jump on the bike and ride. A lot more work goes in to planning a bike ride, when it comes to running I have the luxury of just going. I obviously need to make sure my blood sugar is over 100 but after that I'm free to go. The only time I have trouble with my blood sugars while running is after 4pm.
Today I needed to run, the bike and running is my drug, if I go more than one day without them I'm lost. After an off day yesterday I needed to run today. I decided to make the run even harder by starting right at 4pm. With a blood sugar of 154 at 3pm I felt confident that I didn't need to make any basal changes for my run. I had no set route, I just wanted to run and enjoy the scenery, the run would be my escape from the world. I felt great but the high humidity and warm temperature started to take its toll as I got further in my run. After my run I knew I was dehydrated but felt good, nothing is more nerve racking then testing ones blood sugar after a workout, I was very relieved when I saw 177. For now things are working very well, I have thirteen days until my first half marathon and feel very strong as a runner and as a diabetic.
