Kerri has written her first book (I have a feeling she will write many more) entitled Balancing Diabetes. I remember being asked if I could contribute to the book, I instantly responded to the email with "I will do whatever you need me to do". When someone so great asks you to help them, you'd be a fool to say no. I remember getting emails with questions and thinking how can a guy that didn't take care of himself for ten years help. I then got a copy of the book, I'm not a huge reader, I enjoy reading but the book has to really keep me interested. I remember reciving a digital copy on the 18th of December, I remember I was upset because I had to go to basketball practice, basketball games and couldn't read the book. I made sure that I could read the book on my phone so I could read it while being on the bus going to Providence for basketball games. I finished the book just before Christmas and instantly wanted to let my wife read it. Balancing Diabetes does such an amazing job of answering questions that almost every person living with diabetes has but it does an even better job of explaining what goes on inside the mind of a diabetic. While reading the book I remember smiling because other people living with diabetes had the same questions, feelings and fear about diabetes. For the longest time I thought I was the only one that got angry when I saw an A1C that was higher than what I thought it would be, I have broken down after appointments because my A1C was 7 and not 6.6 like I thought it would be.
For Leanne it is tough for her to understand all that goes in to diabetes. She knows a lot, probably a lot more than most, but she still doesn't have the disease and she doesn't understand what a 60 blood sugar feels like. She also doesn't understand why I'm very quiet when I wake up at 2am with a low blood sugar. This book does the explaining for me, I could never explain diabetes the way that Kerri does. Kerri is truly amazing and I'm honored to be a contributor to the book. This book is the go to book for anyone that has any questions about diabetes. If you don't have diabetes, read this book, this book will make you understand diabetes and all that goes with it.
Balancing Diabetes is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. You can also grab a digital version!! I'm not sure if an audiobook of Balancing Diabetes is available but I'd love to do the audio if it is not!!! Again I encourage everyone to grab a copy!!!
