The blood sugar is actually the easy part, keep some juice next to the bed and enjoy. What about the CGM or an insulin pump? What happens to them during this time? People always complain that the CGM will fall out during exercise. I say sex falls under the exercise category, roll over in a weird way and goodbye CGM. You also have to worry about limbs hitting the CGM, that could easily knock it out. The insulin pump is a little easier, unhook and enjoy. Just be careful of the site it can scratch the other person.
In all seriousness though, what about that first time with some. I was lucky, I was married when I got the pump. We learned how to do things together when it came to this subject. What about the person who has been dating someone and they're taking that next step. Do you bring it up over dinner one night? What if the sex is random? (Yes that does happen to people with diabetes. I don't condone that, but it does happen) Personally I would tell them to be careful of wherever my CGM is, however if it gets knocked out I wouldn't be to upset. I would get over it quickly and enjoy the moment, I'm a guy what can I say. I don't know if it makes things any easier for anyone but telling your partner ahead of time about the CGM or insulin pump is the best option.
