This morning my blood sugar was in range at 6am and I was feeling good about the bike ride I had planned. A nice little ride in the country. Cows, hills and a cool summer morning, it couldn't get much better. The truth was it couldn't get much worse, my body stayed in bed as I jumped on the bike around 7am. I tried to get in my rhythm but my shoulders were hurting and my legs felt like anvils!! I couldn't get anything going, even seeing a few cyclists off in the distance got me going. Usually seeing a bike in the distance gets me thinking I'm in some European country racing with the best in the world. Usually the bike in the distance is some kid with his buddies but chasing them down is still fun. Today however I had no interest in trying to catch them.
It wasn't until I hit my climb that my legs woke up. Halfway up the climb I got that jolt that I was looking for all morning. The next ten miles or so went great until a nail decided to say hi to my back tire. It was a fitting end to a ride that I was beyond excited for. I'm still looking for what the problem was though, my blood sugar was in range, I stretched and was hydrated. Going for a run on Tuesday will either make me feel better because I'll run well or make me worry a lil more if I don't feel well. The good news is that everything went very well blood sugar wise. I'll take the good blood sugars over a great ride any day of the week.
