My running plan is the following. I would love to run the first 5k in twenty-seven to thirty minutes. The next seventeen miles will be a relaxed pace, I will have my phone with me and probably taking photos while running, I want to have a pace that will allow me to talk with someone while running. At that pace I would love to be at three hours at mile twenty. My mile twenty time can be anywhere between three hours and three hours and twenty minutes. At mile twenty my race begins, I want to run the final 6.2 miles in forty-five minutes. That would be my normal race pace and if all goes as planned I will have plenty of gas left in the tank to be able to finish strong. That will put my finishing time around four hours. The marathon will not go anything like I plan, I have three goal times, my first is if everything goes perfectly and I run around three hours and thirty minutes. If I have a normal day I will finish around three hours and fifty minutes to four hours and ten minutes. A bad day will have me finishing around the four and a half hour mark. My real goal is to finish and have my name in the New York Times on Monday. To do that I need to finish under four hours and thirty minutes.
Finally we have the weird side of my marathon, the music!! I need to run with music, it keeps me in my zone. With almost two million fans watching the marathon the unwritten rule is that the crowd will get you to the finish and headphones are bad. I need to be in my zone, I will enjoy the crowd but I don't want to hear them, if I hear the roar from the crowd on first avenue I will increase my pace and not run my race. With that said below is a snapshot of my running playlist. You will notice some very odd music, I like to laugh while running and each song has meaning. Yes even the Backstreet Boys and *Nsync songs. I'm an odd person but whatever it takes I will do to finish.
