November has always been one of my favorite months, the cooler weather, Thanksgiving, snow starting to fly and World Diabetes Day!!  World Diabetes Day is on November 14th and each year companies come up with amazing promotions to raise diabetes awareness.  For anyone living with diabetes November 14th is our day, it is our chance to show the world what is possible with diabetes.

One campaign that I'm very excited about this year is the Reach Your 100 campaign that the Team Type 1 Foundation is putting on.  Reach Your 100 is a four-week challenge to bring together people affected by diabetes in a positive and empowering way to improve the quality of their lives. The challenge gamifies health-related parameters like physical activity, eating habits and sleep with the goal of increased energy and balance in life.  Personally I love the campaign because it brings a competition to the table.  It challenges every person that participates, I'm trying to reach my 100 and so are my parents, I mean it is amazing that people in their 60s and an endurance athlete in his mid thirties can share in this experience.  Each person is different but each person can get to their 100!!

As you may know
Team Type 1 is funding scholarships in order to recognize young, talented athletes with Type 1 diabetes who demonstrate an ability to balance both academic and sporting commitments, promote good health with successful management of their diabetes through exercise, and support families already burdened with additional expenses associated with diabetes care.  For every 100 participants in the Reach Your 100 campaign, one new student athlete will receive a scholarship in 2018.  Since 2014, the Team Type 1 Foundation has bestowed 271 college scholarships to athletes with diabetes who compete in a NCAA or NAIA sport worth approximately $400,000 through its Global Ambassador Program.

Here is how the Reach Your 100 campaign works.  The cost to join the four-week challenge is only $25 with a percentage going to benefit the Team Type 1 Foundation. The mission of the Team Type 1 Foundation is education, empowerment and equal access to medicine for everyone affected by diabetes.  All participants can complete the Reach Your 100 health assessment from November 7 until November 14. Every campaign week will introduce a new challenge. A challenge is always announced Friday, starts Monday and ends Sunday.  Participants will be notified when it's time to take the digital health check, which reveals their current health habits and body age. Before the month-long campaign kicks off, each member receives a personalized set of daily goals that outlines how to reach their 100 percent.  Everyone's 100 percent is unique and based on his or her current lifestyle habits and fitness.  On a daily basis, members track how many fruits and vegetables, snacks, and cups of coffee were consumed along with smoking and alcohol. Participants receive positive points for every minute of physical activity and by sleeping at least 7 hours a night.  The goal is to average 100 percent throughout the month, which allows for good days and bad days, and will ultimately lead to a happier and healthier life.  Throughout the campaign, experts will be available online to help participants reach their 100 percent by providing advice or guidance on diet, exercise, motivation or the campaign itself.

I have already signed up and can't wait for the campaign to begin!!  To signup and learn more about the Reach Your 100 Campaign please visit
