One Week

It's funny how a month of getting up each morning at 430 to be on the bike for 5 has made me better. This past week has been crazy at work, which explains the lack of posts this week. For the past four days I have had to be up at 430 to be ready for work starting at 530. In years past getting up that early took a toll on my body and I was exhausted all week. This year I've had no problems and my blood sugars have been exceptional. The whole month of July I thought I was training on the bike, it turned I was training my body for work.

With my body feeling so great I have signed up to compete in the Northeast Masters Classic a thirteen mile time trial held about twenty minutes away. This upcoming week will have me on the bike quite a bit but I'm ready mentally and physically for the time trial. I will be competing in the Eddy Merckx Class which is road Bikes only, no aero bars of any type, no aero helmets, no booties and no disc wheels, deep profile wheels up to 40mm may be used.

I wouldn't say that I'm a time trial specialist but I do love them and have done well in past events. It is just you and your bike, no help, no drafting, the person that can go the fastest while being able to corner and get over the hills the best will win. To me it is the purest cycling race around, I'd be a pro if I could compete in a week long race that was just time trials. Something about catching someone that started thirty seconds ahead of me get me fired up. I'm also terrified that the person starting behind me will catch me so I work that much harder.

I will be posting a dedication and a preview of the time trial on Friday so stay tuned!!
