When I received the Dexcom I was excited, I knew that it would be more accurate than the Medtronic but I didn't expect this. I have had my Dexcom for almost two months and I have yet to be perfect for twenty-four hours. My first thought was that because it is the winter my blood sugar control is not as tight as it has been or will be in the spring or summer. My second thought is that the Dexcom is to accurate. My CGM (Ed McCaffery) looks like the stock market after twenty-four hours, again when I had the Medtronic my blood sugar was mostly on a straight line with very few ups and downs. Time will tell if the Dexcom has my number or if I can keep my blood sugar perfect for twenty-four hours.
Right now the bigger concern is my post breakfast spike. I don't know where they are coming from but I would love to have them figured out before the spring. The last thing I need is to be at 240 at 830am and 70 at 9am while working. The last thing I want this spring is to tell the boss I can't help with a certain project because my blood sugar is to low. I will continue to make some tweaks and see what happens, I will also be aiming for perfection moving forward.
