Anyone that is living with diabetes has been where Scott was just three short years ago. For some the tears may come on the day of diagnosis, for others like myself the tears may come years later. What makes this post so inspirational is that it will eliminate some of those tears. This post is proof that diabetes can't stop you from reaching your dreams. If diabetes does anything it makes us stronger and better people.
I have a collection of pictures, emails, and social media posts from Team Novo Nordisk that inspire me each and everyday. Cycling and endurance running is my way of showing diabetes that I will not be stopped. Without Team Novo Nordisk and athletes like Scott I wouldn't be out cycling for hours or looking for a 50k run to compete in. I will never be a professional athlete like Scott Ambrose but that doesn't mean I can't chase my athletic dreams. Scott and his teammates are the reason I manage my diabetes the way that I do. Pro athlete, banker, assistant grocery manager or student in high school, diabetes is the same. Yes we all manage our diabetes in different ways but at the end of the day what I do to keep my blood sugars in range is the same as what Scott does. We all take insulin and monitor our blood sugar. Diabetes will not stop Scott, it will not stop me and it sure as hell won't stop a ten year old child named Manato or any other child living with diabetes that is a fan of Team Novo Nordisk!!
A special thank you to Scott for sharing this post, you are an inspiration to anyone living with diabetes!! We are all cheering for you and I'm not worried about where you'll be in three years!! I'm worried about where you will be in six years!! I know where you and the team will be, you will be at the start of the Tour de France with thousands of people living with diabetes lining each and every stage of the Tour!!!!
