It is no secret that Team Novo Nordisk is my motivation each and everyday as cyclist and as a person living with diabetes. I have dreams of racing for them, be it on the bike or as a runner. I have a better chance of making the team as a runner but still need to drop twenty minutes off of my half marathon personal best to even have a chance at tasting that dream. I will obviously work as hard as I can but if you took away the bikes would we still look at the members of Team Novo Nordisk the same way?
The answer is YES!! Over the past two years I have had the honor of interviewing and getting to know a few of the team members on a personal level. The best part about talking to any member of Team Novo Nordisk is that they don't want to talk about the bike or running they want to talk about life with diabetes. That is what makes the team so special, I always say that the members of Team Novo Nordisk are a family. Watching them talk about their lives with diabetes and the day to day management of the disease is amazing. It is the same conversation that a child living with diabetes has with his parents, the same conversation a person living with diabetes has with their husband or wife. At the core of Team Novo Nordisk is love, love for one another and love for anyone they meet that is living with diabetes. From videos on Youtube discussing how they race with diabetes to interviews with diabetes websites that are changing the diabetes world, Team Novo Nordisk is doing all that they can do to change the world.
This week members of Team Novo Nordisk will be attending the 52nd EASD Annual Meetings in Munich. For anyone that is attending the meeting I encourage you to spend as much time as you can with members of the team. Personally I believe it will be the best part of attending of the conference and you will walk away feeling great about yourself and living with diabetes. Team Novo Nordisk is changing the world and we are lucky enough to be able to witness the change that they are making!!! Thanks to Team Novo Nordisk we are all diabetes empowered.
