Kris Freeman is a four time olympian in cross country skiing and is currently competing at the games in Sochi. Kris has been living with diabetes for the past fourteen years, in fact he is the only known cross country skier to ever compete with diabetes. To compete at the olympic level is impressive, to do so with diabetes is inspirational. I know nothing about cross country skiing but I feel a connection with Kris as he competes. I'm not even close to a professional level as a runner or cyclist but I know how tough it can be to compete in endurance events with diabetes. Again competing at the highest possible level with diabetes is amazing!!
Kris competed this morning in the Cross Country Mens Skiathlon and finished in a time of 1:14:34, Kris did not medal but competed very well in one of the most grueling Winter Olympic events. The race will be shown this evening on the NBC Networks, I encourage everyone to watch the event just to see how physically demanding the sport is. Kris is an amazing person that does amazing things with diabetes!!
