As the ride began I felt amazing, everything was going great. When I got to the 47th mile my day changed, I hit something and flatted. Luckily I had an extra tube and was back on the road in no time. As I reached mile 70 I began to have very light craps in my legs, I grabbed a couple of bananas and was all set for a strong finish. By mile 90 I was with a group of riders and feeling great, then came flat tire number two. That was it, ten miles from the finish I was out of the ride. I got a ride to the finish and stormed off to my car. My day was ruined, when I got to my car I put my bike in the car and grabbed my bag to go and change. When I opened the bag there was my coach, Oscar the grouch, I couldn't help but laugh. Seeing a stuffed animal brought me back to earth. No one cares how well anyone rode or who had what time, it's about raising money to cure diabetes. I went off to the party afterwards and enjoyed meeting new people that are living with diabetes in some way.
Hours after my blood sugars have been around 180 and my body feels great. I couldn't ask for a better day!!
