As a runner you know when a pair of shoes is right for you, as soon as my foot slid in to the Nike Air Pegasus+ 30 I fell in love!! The color is a bit crazy for me but the runner OCD that I have makes sure that I'm always in a shoe that has a lot of blue in it. This afternoon would be my first mid distance run that I would have in my new shoes. I felt great and having a pair of shoes that I'm very confident in helped tremendously. When I'm not worried about my shoes I can run with no worries and when that happens I can run my best. My run of just over six miles took me around 45 minutes, I never run with a watch, I want to enjoy my runs, if I train correctly then the time should take care of itself when I race.
My blood sugar while running was a bit of a headache, I started my run with a blood sugar of 212. Even with a higher than normal blood sugar I decided it would be smart to grab some GU and some Smarties just in case I got low while running. I would need the GU and the four sleeves of Smarties around mile 5 as I could feel that my blood sugar was dropping. Leaving my Dexcom on the kitchen counter was not a good idea, I didn't realize until mile four that I had forgotten my Dexcom. I have mental lapses sometimes and having one just before a run is neever good. When I finished my blood sugar was at 70, not crazy low but not a number that I want to see after a run. The shoes easily passed the mid distance test, I felt like I was running on clouds and because of that I want to run more. I have officially become a shoe snob!! I'm not to happy about that!!
