I understand the physical side but I have also lost of my diabetes swag!! When I was sick I had days where I was only taking 20 units of insulin, I also had days that I was taking 45 units. I had days of nothing but high blood sugars and days of perfection. I'm now back to normal health and I feel like I'm learning how to manage my diabetes all over again. All of my basal rates have been adjusted and I'm having difficulty getting back in to my blood sugar zone.
I'd be lying if I said I was a little nervous moving forward. I have two weeks before my ultra marathon training really begins, in those two weeks I have to get my blood sugars and insulin rates where they need to be and need to get my running legs back. I also have to be completely healthy, if I'm not I will be sick and the dream of running an ultra will have to wait until the fall of 2016. That wouldn't be the worse thing but I'm have dreams of running my second ultra in the fall of 2016 not my first. As always time will tell what happens, all I can do is try my best to get where I should be mentally and physically.
