Going in to the doctor this morning I figured that I had a slight tear of my meniscus. I figured I could get a cortisone shot to get me through the upcoming weeks of work and the few races I have planned in the next two weeks. After that I would see how it felt and go from there. After chatting with the doctor about my pain and doing some movements I was informed by the doctor that it was once again my IT band. A bit surprised I asked what I could do to help it, I was told rolling and ice immediately after any workout would be best. I was then told that a week or so off would help, the sad part is that is not possible. If this was November it would be but I'm on my feet ten hours a day at work, this has nothing to do with my life as an athlete. I'm struggling to make it through an entire day of work I needed a quick fix. I'm not going to lie I also told the doctor about my upcoming racing schedule.
I was given a cortisone shot and told to not workout until Sunday at the earliest, I could work the rest of the day and this weekend but any kind of high stress activity would not be good post cortisone shot. Believe me when I say that I'm counting down the hours until I can get back on the bike and run mile after mile. I have noticed a difference already just walking around at work, I can once again pivot on my right leg with little pain. Time will tell how everything works out but I'm happy to have a resolution that should solve the problem. I can't wait to be back at 100%!!!
