The good news is that I can keep working out with no limitations. The problem that I'm having is I really miss running. It is tough to explain, I'm happy to have a little bit of time off but I miss that thirty to ninety minutes of running five times a week. Running was my escape, I could run and think about life and things I needed to do, the rest of the run I could just enjoy the world around me. I get that same feeling while I'm on the bike, I need to setup a schedule that allows me to run, ride my bike and train to box. As the weather gets colder and the snow flys it will be tougher to be on the bike, that will make my schedule a little easier. In the spring however I need to make a decision, do I combine running and cycling and find a lot of duathlon events to compete in for the spring and summer? Or do I try to swim and go the Triathlon route? Only time will tell, I will be focusing on total body workouts/boxing this winter.
A day after my first boxing workout my blood sugars magically returned to where they should be. I was back to my normal slight lows just before lunch and around 2pm. I can't believe that one thirty minute workout can effect my insulin in take that much. I'm not complaining at all, even if I hated working out the blood sugar and insulin reading would make me workout. As a diabetic you hear so much about how great working out is for you, it took me almost twenty-two years but I have to say any kind of workout is great for diabetics!!
