Waking up a little before 7, I thought to myself why won't my mental alarm clock let me sleep in.  I think my body was a little upset with me because as I walked downstairs to test my sugar I was rocking out to Korns-Freak on a Leash.  After seeing that I was 96, I was happy but worried.  I wouldn't be having breakfast until 9am with a friend in town.  I decided to give myself 2 units and have a waffle.  Nothing filling, just enough to hold me over until breakfast.

Before I left the house I tested and was 154.  I was happy and gave myself 6 units. Giving myself insulin in advance is a bit risky but knowing the restaurant I knew the food would come quick and I always order the same thing so I felt good.  Breakfast was great and the company even better.  After running a few quick errands my wife and I decided to stop by the high school and check out the wrestling tournament.  After about 45 minutes I had a new respect for real wrestlers, I still have no idea how it works but it was interesting to watch.

Returning home around 11 I tested again before I headed out for a hill workout on the bike.  I was 182, a perfect sugar to have going in to a workout.  I knocked my basal down to 9% and began stretching.  Heading out on the bike around 1130 I felt really strong on the bike.  As I rode the 2 miles to my workout hill I began thinking about the possibilities ahead of me on the bike.  It's January and my body is in mid-June cycling shape.  I'm excited for the first race of the season.  Do I think I can win, of course if I didn't why would I enter a race.  I just have to keep up with the daily work to stay in peak shape.

Returning home around 1230 I felt off.  I quickly looked at my pump which read 77.  I thought this can’t be good, my pump is always off by at least 15 when my sugar drops below 80.  I quickly got all of my cycling gear off and headed upstairs with a juice box already half gone. When I tested I was 49.  I think my workout took a lot more out of me than I had thought.  I began eating my post workout power bar and finished up my juice box.  I tested 15mins later and was 93, I could now worry about lunch and get some insulin in to my body.  Not feeling to hungry I poured a bowl of cereal and gave myself 4 units.

After a long nap I awoke around 330 feeling rested and a lot better.  I took a peak at my pump and was 132.  I poured a bowl of cereal for an early dinner.  I would be heading to my nieces birthday party and really didn’t want to put pizza in to my body.  I gave myself 5.4 units knowing that I would have a slice.  The party was very nice and it was great to see a lot of my wifes family.  My blood sugars stayed right around 120 for the 4hrs.  I was happy with my day thus far and decided to meet a few friends out to watch the NFL game and just catch up. Other than a quick low around 10pm the day was a success.  I would return home around 11pm and test to make myself feel better before heading to bed.  I was 110, that works for me.  Time to turn in and call it a day.
