Happy Easter

Holiday or not I wanted to get back on the bike this morning.  The best way to recover from a tough ride the day before is to ride the next day.  I awoke a little before 8 with a blood sugar of 133, by 820 I would be on the bike.  For some reason my blood sugar always spikes after I have been awake for 20 minutes.  Knowing this I did not take any insulin, I shutdown my pump and got ready to ride.  I did my normal 20 mile ride along the water.  I was very suprised at how well I rode.  I was a little sore but time wise I was not that far off from my normal.  I returend a little after 9 with a blood sugar of 140, I took some insulin and got ready for Easter.
My wife and I spent Easter day with her family.  We had a very nice day catching up with family that we do not see as often as we should.  It's always nice to spend the day with family and today was no different.  Diabetes wise holidays are often very tough, throw in a bike ride and it makes it that much harder.  Most of the day I was around 100, I tested around noon after a late breakfast and was at 80.  I quickly got some juice to get back up to normal range.  The afternoon brought another low blood sugar but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little apple juice.  Other than being very tired from the bike I was very happy with how I felt all day.  I hope that everyone had a very Happy Easter!!!
