Once my blood sugar was all set I could finally get on the bike and enjoy my ride. I wanted to go for a ride that really pushed me and that was exactly what I got. A coworker of mine suggested that I go up towards Coventry, he said if I want some real hills then that'd be the place to go. Man was he right, once I got in to West Greenwich the hills didn't stop. Today it would be my legs that caused me trouble not the blood sugar. My legs are not where they should be, they're strong just bike strong, that will come with time. The weirdest thing was that the more pain I felt the happier I was. Around the 27 mile mark I saw the big hill that was in front of me, instead of getting angry I started to sing the theme song for a local ice cream shop. Just picture me on the bike going up a good sized hill and I'm singing "Farm fresh ice cream from Buttonwood Farms". I need a lot of help, I did pass the farm earlier in the ride but that's still no excuse to be singing while on the bike.
When I arrived home my blood sugar was at 80, I took six units of insulin and started to replace the almost 3,000 calories that I had just lost. Three hours after and the blood sugar is good and my body feels a lot better already. I cant wait to get back on the bike early tomorrow morning.
