This season is a little different however, since moving I haven't been in a rhythm when it comes to training. I'm still trying to adjust to the new commute, new area and getting every set life wise. The good news is that I have a 10k on my calendar in October but that is about it right now. I'm looking for a duathlon and maybe a 30k to finish up the fall.
You might be asking whats wrong, why the lack of racing. The truth is my body has changed and I need to hit the gym. The 50k did a number on my body, not just the race but the training as well. I've turned into the long distance runner, my body is lacking upper body strength big time. I can run or bike for days which I love but I also need a little bit of work with some weights.
The change in body type has also done good things for my blood sugars and diabetes management, the amount of insulin I take per day is down. Making sure I don't have any fast acting insulin onboard while running or biking is more important than ever. Before if I had a unit or less onboard I'd be ok, now I need to make sure I have plenty of carbs with me or onboard if I run or bike with active fast acting insulin.
As always small tweaks are needed to make everything run smoothly. A lighter racing autumn will mean a stronger me come early spring. That means I will be racing two 50ks before the end of June.
