Yesterday I woke up and my left eye wouldn't open, after flushing out all of the gunk it was red and itchy. I thought it was a sinus infection and headed off to work, as my work day went on the real fun started. My left eye was now very red and itchy, I also had a very sore throat. At break I called my doctor and made an appointment for later in the afternoon.
After hearing from not only the receptionist but everyone in the office about how bad my eyes looked I was off to see the doctor. When he walked in he took one look at me and said "Guy you don't look good." He quickly looked at my eyes and said it was pink eye as he began to write my prescription I told him about my throat, he laughed and said it could just be a cold but lets try a strep test and see what we get. Five minutes later "Guy you have strep" I received another prescription and off I went. The weird thing is that this is my fourth spring in a row with strep, I asked the doctor if I should be worried about that and he laughed it off. He was not concerned and told me that I need to relax, part of me believes him but part of me wants to know why I'm getting strep every spring. It doesn't sound normal to me.
Today was a very quiet day at the Noonan house, once "Sharkie" and "Minnie" headed off to daycare Leanne and I made sure that the bed wasn't lonely. Leanne is dealing with a nasty cold herself and a day of sleep and laying low was just what the doctor ordered. All day my blood sugars were right around 170 which isn't great but all things considered I will take it. Tomorrow it is right back to training, I'm running the NJ Half Marathon at the end of the month and I want to PR at the race. This spring has been a tough one as I have been sick and fighting cold after cold but I still believe that I will PR but my training needs to get in gear over the next three months.
