As the weather gets a little colder the focus goes from working out to watching my diet. In the spring and summer I have a lot more freedom when it comes to what food I eat. My diet is carb heavy at those times but I can eat more because my workload is so heavy.
In the winter work slows down and workouts are less intense and not nearly as long. Obviously I can't eat like I do in the summer, my calorie intake for the winter needs to be around 1,400. To stay on track and not gain winter weight I use MyPlate to keep track of my calorie intake.
Seeing the nutritional information of the foods in eating helps tremendously. I will choose healthier options because I want to keep my calorie intake down. This in turn helps my blood sugars which is great. I encourage everyone to try tracking the foods they eat, it is a great tool to help you lose weight and have better blood sugars.
