This morning everything was go perfectly, I a great blood sugar at 5am and had a low carb breakfast and too very little insulin. As I began my work day my Dexcom read 134 and I was ecstatic that the day would go very smoothly. I had just loaded my Gatorade, my fruit and granola bars on my workman when I got a sudden odd pain where my dexcom sensor was attached. Feeling around I noticed that it was now hanging and no longer attached to my body. After letting out a "Are you bleeping kidding me!!" and kicking the tire a coworker asked what the problem was. "My day just got a lot tougher, my sensor fell off." I got that oh man Noonan isn't happy look and he quietly walked away.
My day went very well once I got over the dexcom fell off and I stopped being angry. I have done the job that I did today so many times that the truth is I had nothing to worry about when it came to my diabetes and blood sugars because I knew how my day would go. It was a day that I only took 31.25 units of insulin and had a 135 blood sugar average for nine blood sugar tests. Tomorrow will bring the same job, I have nine holes left and I'm excited to have a new dexcom site tomorrow morning. Will it mean my blood sugars will be any better? Maybe, but it will help me relax a little which I will need with a five mile run planned before work. Today went so well why not make tomorrow a little tougher? You never get better if you don't challenge yourself!!
