Before we even began our tour Kate and I were thinking alike, we saw a bistro, smiled at each other and said that will come in handy. It’s the unspoken diabetes part of our marriage. What wasn’t said was that I’m not leaving the birth of our son to fix my blood sugar. As we headed to the birthing floor we were both very happy to see a vending machine. Another blood sugar fix if needed.
The thing is I don’t want to worry about myself while our son is being born. The odds are my blood sugar will be on the higher end because of adrenaline but again I have no idea. My pump and cgm will be working to keep me in range as always. I will also have my own bag packed just in case my blood sugar dips below my range.
The best thing is that I have a great diabetes community helping me. From a surprising heart to heart conversation about diabetes and being the husband during child birth too emails I have been so thankful for all of the help and can’t wait for the joy of our son.
