Don’t get me wrong the smart phones help tremendously with my diabetes. Below are some of the Apps that I have used. I encourage everyone to explore the app store and test drive a few and see what apps work best for you.
Diabetes Buddy- GRADE-A- You can input your daily carb intake, glucose, insulin, exercise, water consumption and weight. Also has a food database that you can add food consumed for easy carb calculation.
Glucose Buddy-GRADE-A-Glucose Buddy is a data storage utility into which you manually enter glucose numbers, carbohydrate consumption, insulin dosages, and activities. You can view all of your data on your free Glucosebuddy.com online account, where your iPhone automatically syncs your logs.
Diabetes Pilot- I have yet to try this app. The high price tag has kept me from wanting to purchase it. Unless an app works directly with my pump I don’t think spending over $10 is a good idea. The app looks amazing and does a lot more than the other apps that I have mentioned.
Diabetes Personal Calculator- This app I found while searching the app store this evening. For a dollar this looks like a kick butt app!!! When you input your blood sugar it tells you what you need to do insulin and carb wise. You obviously have to input all of your settings so the app works properly but I’d take the ten minutes to do so without hesitation. It also has a food database so you can select what you’re eating and it will give you a insulin dosage based on the carbs in the foods you selected. Sounds amazing!!! I will definitely download this tomorrow morning and give it a try.
Those are the apps that I have tried and have looked at. Please feel free to share the apps you have tried or are looking at. I believe as diabetics we need to take advantage of all the technology around us it has and will make diabetes management a little easier.
