That being said the preparation for the 2017 Chicago marathon starts today. The preparation begins with blood sugar management and getting more miles and local races under my belt. Deferring to the 2017 marathon was one of the most difficult decisions I have made as an athlete. What makes me feel better is that I will be stronger and running with a smile on my face in 2017. I have begun to enjoy being on the bike and running again, running with happiness instead of anger has improved my times as of late and has brought back the smile to my face.
The 13 people that I wrote about to cover the first 13 miles will not change, the 13 I have yet to write about will however. 26 weeks out from the 2017 marathon I will begin writing about the 26 people that have helped to make me the person that I am. As always without their support I would not be the person I am today. For now it is a lot of racing and training. No matter the time of any training run or any race as long as my blood sugars are in range, I'm surrounded by loved ones, and smiling nothing else will matter.
