By 9:30 I was down to 220, I felt good and began stretching and preparing for my ride. When i got on to the bike I felt great, a very nice breeze off of the ocean helped tremendously as I headed north for thirty miles. The thirty miles back towards home we're a bit tougher. A head wind is never fun, when you forget money to get more fluids it makes it very very tough. Around mile forty my mouth was like sandpaper, I would finally stop at an empty beach condo around mile fifty to use the outside spigot. I do not condone this kind of behavior but desperate times call for desperate measures. Nothing like a rookie mistake to make my first day of my fake tour a lot tougher.
After my ride my blood sugars have been perfect, after my three hour ride my blood sugar was at 107 and has not gone above 140 since two. My body feels very strong, I have been drinking water like it is my job. Tomorrow should be a bit better, the temperature may reach 90, but as long as I have money to get another Gatorade I don't foresee any problems.
