Heading up to Massachusetts my wife and I hit the only hiccup of our day. One of the roads was closed, so being the smart man that I’m I went down a side road thinking I knew where I was going. Well after 15 minutes we were back where we started. The best part was checking my phone to see if we were close to the highway. We were but somehow we were back where we started. This time we were told by the state trooper how to get to the highway. Lesson learned, listen to your wife. Yes she will print this out and put on the fridge to remind me daily that she was right. Thanks to my stupidity we were 10 minutes late for the mass to remember my grandfather. The mass was very well done. Sitting in the back due to our tardiness the deacon stops to talk to me. Instantly I thought oh no what'd I do. He says that he likes my pump and that he has the same one. Now for non-diabetics this isn't too big, for a diabetic this is like the hottest guy or girl saying you’re hot in high school. You don't expect it but when it does happen you’re speechless. Luckily my wife asked the questions and we had a very nice conversation.
The entire Noonan clan headed to a local diner in town for Brunch. For those who don’t know the family history, getting the Noonan’s together in a public place is like getting a college fraternity together. For the most part they are well behaved but you know that they are present. Today the Noonan’s were 30 strong. The stories and conversations with family members were great as always. Each conversation is different, but each one consists of lots of laughs but learning a lot at the same time. My pump read 141 as I ordered my grilled chicken, mystery vegetable and mashed potatoes. I really over guessed the insulin; I thought I'd eat more potatoes so I took 4.3 units. An hour later on the way home a pit stop was necessary due to my low blood sugar.
When my wife and I arrived home around 4:15 it was time to find something to do to keep me from watching the Broncos game. In my mind if I don’t watch they will do better and win. I decided to head to the store, this time I remembered to bring everything. That passed about an hour, how would I spend the next two? Feeling a bit off I decided to test and saw that I was 77. I decided to cut down my basal and eat my dinner. I ate a bowl of Fiber One raisin bran and Greek yogurt. Waiting about 45minutes for everything to kick in I decided why not go down to the basement and ride my bike on the trainer. For normal people this means, having a trainer that allows you to pedal with a bit of resistance on the rear wheel. I'm not normal so I decided to get a high-tech trainer that hooks to a laptop via a USB cable. It comes with 15 routes that range from flat to mountain courses. I chose to do a rolling hills route, after choosing my route I put on my sauna suit and jumped on the bike. Yes a sauna suit aka garbage bags to make me sweat like crazy. My 45 minute workout would make my lungs burn and would leave a puddle of sweat on the basement floor. Great workout and now to see how the Broncos did, it was about 7:45 so the game should've been over. Getting upstairs I see that somehow Denver is winning but not for long. I sit down to hydrate and Pittsburgh scores, I'm bad luck. I go change and get cleaned up. I return downstairs to watch the game with my wife and my brother in law. As Denver wins the coin toss in overtime I say they should choose to kickoff, hope the defense comes up big and forces a punt, and good field position. That way Tim Tebow won’t have to throw. They decided to receive and throw on first down, 80 yards later Denver is victorious. Thanks Tupac for saying the Hail Mary for me.
Getting ready for bed I was 124 and decided to have an apple while I write about my day. All in all it was a great day with great people and a Denver Bronco win!!!
