As a teenager growing up with diabetes I had no one to talk to about my diabetes. The internet did not have diabetes forums or blogs just yet so finding information was tough. I could always get a packet from the hospital or my endocrinologist but they didn't answer the tough questions. I wish I had people to tell me what worked best when they decided to play sports, what foods did they eat before hand to keep their blood sugar at good levels.
Today it is very tough not to find the information that you need. I have been blogging and running this website for less than a year and I have received so many emails asking me questions about diabetes. Those emails have led to questions from me to the other person living with diabetes and I have a friendship with a person I have never met in person. Anyone living with diabetes knows what it is like to live with fear when they are trying something new and they know how scarey that is. I believe that the diabetes community is so strong because we have all had our own unique experiences and we would do anything to help someone living with diabetes that has a fear of trying new things because they have diabetes.
