Chores and Snow

When I awoke this morning I was very happy to have the words from the song New York by Snow Patrol in my head.  I know what a lot of people are thinking, what is wrong with this guy??  Why does he love this odd and not very well known band from Northern Ireland?  For those who are thinking that please don’t read the third paragraph it is a bit of a Snow Patrol themed paragraph.  The morning song was accompanied by a perfect 71 blood sugar to begin the day.  Other than fixing some minor problems around the house I had nothing planned for the day.  I only planned the fixing of the minor problems so I could stay in the house tonight, one unfinished chore coupled with a low or high blood sugar could start a nice little shouting match between me and my wife.  It has happened before and is not for anyone.  I’m happy to report that after four hours of work all of my chores were done and I could go outside and play with my friends or I could go read for my class later in the evening.  In my four hours of work I had one low and it came well fixing a door, I owe the door an apology for yelling at it.  After some juice and crackers the door and I made up and I was able to complete my task.

Before heading in to class I had this odd calmness come over me.  This is a feeling that is becoming the norm before a class.  It was odd to feel it tonight though because we were getting back our midterms.  As I have said before with my blood sugars where they should be the school part is old hat.  When I received my paper I was happy to see a B on the top, not perfect but acceptable.  I made a few minor errors and left out a couple key parts in my essay.  With my blood sugar averaging 109 for the day I was able to stay low but not have to worry about dropping below 70 at any point other than when I was fixing the door.  As spring approaches I know that days like this will not be seen again until late April because I will be returning to work and the strenuous physical activity every day.  It will take my body as well as my insulin rates a while to get accustom to eight hours of activity.  To be honest it’s not something that I’m looking forward to but I’m sure that I will be fine and everything will be back to normal in a week or two.

On to my odd obsession with Snow Patrol, it all began just after my surgery when I found the YouTube video of Lance Armstrong with a song by the band as the background music.  Since then it has gotten out of hand, I bought a few cds and fell in love with the music.  All most of the songs I can relate to a time in my life, the songs bring me back to certain times and get me to reflect and be grateful for the life that I have and have had until now.  Today bored I looked for live songs by Snow Patrol, what I found was just great.  The band looks amazing live, you can judge for yourself by watching the video below.  The band may sound better live, I then decided to see if they were coming to tour in the United States.  I found that they will be in Boston on the 12th of April.  The show has already sold out but I’ll do my best to find a cheap ticket, seeing them in concert is on the list of things I need to do before I die so I’ll find a way to see them.  Enjoy the video if you choose to watch!!!
