Post run I had a nice conversation with a runner that I have been trying to beat for the past six weeks. Each week I have gotten closer, this week I did not see him until the finish. At the end of the race him and I had a very nice chat about running and some of the local races that we will be doing the rest of the summer. This may not sound very interesting to most but for me this conversation kind of marks the new me. I believe I'm over my quarter life crisis and very happy with my "new" life. My life is now talking to people about diabetes, talking about running and cycling and talking computers. My old life was talking golf, beer and sports. I have a new group of friends and new people in my life that don't know my past. I'm a new person and honestly I love the life that I have now.
I love sitting down with people after a race and talking about what worked best for them. I love sitting down at the local computer shop and talking about why a Mac is better than a PC and of course I can talk for days about diabetes strategies. It is just tough for me to see how far I have come as a person, I would have never imagined I'd be doing what I'm doing today. Without Leanne none of this would be possible, it is amazing how someone can turn your whole world around!!
