Most of the support is for those that live with diabetes, but what about the people that care for those with diabetes? Personally I know that Leanne wishes she had someone to talk to when it comes to caring for someone with diabetes. It is not easy, as diabetics we tend to lose our temper when low or high, when people ask what our blood sugar is and when we are told we should get a snack. I don't know what it is like to be on the other side, all I can do is try my best to know that these comments are made because the people that make them love me.
Moving forward we need to take care of the caregiver, without the caregiver diabetics would have very little hope. It is the caregivers that are in the back of our heads when we don't want to test but do. All of the good that diabetics do is for the caregivers, we say we want a cure for ourselves but we want a cure so we are alive to see the ones we love. Tonight I ask that people living with diabetes say thank you to the ones that are the caregivers, they may not have the disease but they do a lot of the work.
