The best part of my bike ride was that breathing was easy, all of this marathon training has really raised my max heart rate. I did not wear my heart rate monitor but my usual hills caused no problems at all, I would get to the top of them and keep a high cadence and speed down the back side. The only problem was that left knee was giving me a few problems. My knee is not 100% but I'm able to play through the pain. The knee will definitely be getting looked at after the marathon however, unless something breaks I don't plan on seeing a doctor. My body is beat up, I have been training hard all summer and my body is at the breaking point. The next couple weeks I will be cutting down the amount of work my body does to try and be 100% for the marathon on November 3rd. Again unless something breaks I will be running the marathon.
My post bike ride diabetes skills are not where they have been in the past. I was 151 after my ride and quickly took six units and had my post ride recovery lunch. The timing of the insulin and the amount were not what they need to be and blood sugars over two hundred for an hour or two were the result. As I write all is good blood sugar wise and my body feels amazing.
