For the last week running has come back and I'm smiling while doing so. That has me looking forward to my first race since the 50k. It will be a ten mile race and one that I have run a few times. The Narragansett Blessing of the Fleet holds a special place in my heart but is also a race I hate!! Last year I ran the worse race of life, I did it with Kate and my parents at the finish waiting for me. A lot of things went wrong that day but I will never forget the pain I felt as I finished. I let myself down and that anger has motivated me this past year.
My body is feeling good and next Friday will be a great night. Last year was the last race for my pump and I need to run a good race to make myself feel like that was the right decision. Going from the pump to injections was the best thing for me as an athlete and it has made my diabetes management a lot better. It was the right decision and a race won't make me feel like I did but it will motivate me. I'm still eyeing running a 50k in October and this race will let me know if I can!!
