For almost four days I had very little to eat and was only averaging 20 units of insulin. Before I got sick I was averaging around 38 units of insulin per day, reintroducing real food to my body has caused my blood sugars to be all over the place. For instance last night at 5pm my blood sugar was at 110, I would not eat dinner until 7pm when I tested I was at 270. I would take extra insulin and have my normal dinner, I would be in the 250 range until 10pm. Then all of the insulin I had taken hit me all at once, I went from 190 at 10:20 to 93 at 10:40. I would then need some juice and peanut butter crackers to stop from crashing. I finally feel that my body has adjusted diabetes wise, my blood sugars today have been no higher then 190 today.
Tomorrow it is back to reality, hitting the gym at 5am and getting back in to my winter workout schedule. This past week has been a tough one but I feel that I learned a lot about being sick and my diabetes. It has been a long time since I have been that sick but I feel that I handled it to the best of my ability and hope that I don't get th
