Today was another gym day. The body feels really good but was not ready for the workout today. Before starting I simply unhooked the pump site and got ready to work. Todays workout consisted of deadlifts, hamstring falls, two arm dumbbell rows and plate pushes which are pictured below. Blood sugar wise I was dialed in. My blood sugar stayed right around 110 for the hour that I worked out. As I left I had a power bar that I covered with two units of insulin.
Feeling really good around 1130 I began cooking some millet and veggies. As my lunch was cooking I tested and was 152. Not exactly where I wanted to be but I set the pump for 5.3 units and enjoyed my lunch.
For lunch number two I picked up my brother-in-law TJ and one of my former athletes/family friend and headed to Buffalo Wild Wings. Now after eating a very healthy lunch I was a bit cautious about going the other way and putting bad food in. As I thought about it some more I was like why not, if I don’t eat I'll just get angry and that’s how my prior hatred of my disease started. So now me and my diabetes talk and meet in the middle and were both very happy together. Lunch 2.0 was just what I needed, the food was good but the company was what made the meal. I did take 3 units to cover the handful of fries and wings.
Before practice I met my wife out for dinner. I decided eating at 430 after lunch at 12 and lunch 2.0 at 230 would be very smart. I grabbed a diet coke and had a good time with my wife. It was nice to be able to sit and chat. With the hectic life style that she has in the winter it’s tough to get time to sit and talk so when its available its very enjoyable.
Heading in to practice I was a bit off. So I alerted my team and let them know to get serious and get practice started right. Being low I'm very short tempered and really didn’t want to yell just because of my low blood sugar. Once the snack kicked in practice lightened up and ran very smoothly. I'm feeling a win on Friday.
Getting ready for bed I was 160. I will be happy with that because I'd like to sleep the entire night. As I end I'll leave a quote that I love that comes from a great musician.
"Good dreams don't come cheap, you've got to pay for them and If you just dream when you're asleep this is no way for them to come alive... to survive."
Average Blood Sugar-130
Units of Insulin-44.25
